I don’t like releasing the numbers because all it does is tell the left how many ballots they have to print in Philadelphia and gives them months advance notice.

Surely you must know that this public data is constantly being vacuumed up by the operatives on both sides, right?
What publicizing these numbers does is what Charlie did on campuses: It tells folks, "You are not alone. There are thousands like you."
It isn't any more complicated than that.
