"Someone else" is always fricking popular.
Then, he gets introduced

That's because Democrat ideas are wildly unpopular, but their smear machine and media cover are extremely effective at swaying the uninformed.

Democrats win when they can stay away from talking issues and keep it at the charisma/feels level. Republicans usually lose when it becomes a charisma contest, because on its surface (if you don't think about it) socialism sounds very compassionate and lovable.
It's when you start pinning down the democrats on specifics that they flounder. However, usually their media protects them from having to get into details if they aren't stupid enough to voluntarily give them out.
The ideal democrat candidate is very charismatic, doesn't talk issues, talks feels, makes a lot of speeches full of platitudes, 'feels your pain' and never provides solid policy proposals.
This more or less describes the ideal republican candidate. The difference is that the GOP candidate has to be willing to view the DNC media as an enemy and treat them as such. If he does not treat them as a den of vipers, he will get ambushed at every turn.
