It's definitely a waiting game. But their will be a time where there is a huge need for the Millenial workforce as the boomers retire. Secondly, companies usually prefer younger, cheaper, more skilled talent. The NFL is a great example.
As for the financial issues like SS, pensions, etc:
Let's be honest here. SS is a joke. It's like $50 a month or something dumb. Noone is actually counting on that now anyway. And... eliminating pensions will help reduce the unfunded liability over time and hopefully allow some of the governmental bloat to reduce.

There is a cross-section of America that likes the idea of socialism, but let's not pin it all on young people. It's likely split more along party lines, or socio-economic lines, rather than purely on age.
Secondly, the driving force isn't greed as much as it is these identity politics, and religious virtue signaling where authoritarianism seems to be the only solution (although most people educated regarding the history of socialism realize that government is NEVER the righteous deity for which they hope).
All that is needed is some honest and open dialog to resolve these silly notions. Sadly, not much of that is allowed in the media during this day and age.
