A Small Business that has a revenue stream of approx $250k per year or less. Employee payroll and payroll tax is about equal to COGS and slightly higher than rent expense. Can’t forget about good ole’ property taxes as well! And a fee for this, and a license for that, and a nickel here and a dime there. If I would be forced to add 30-40% to my payroll for absolutely nothing I would be upside down and cease to exist.
What, do you think small businesses are rolling in money? The average SB in America has a 7% profit margin.
7 fricking cents out of every dollar.
30% of SB owners do not take a salary in any way, which I’ve had to do for much of the last two years just to survive.
What about you, what business do you run genius? How many people do you employ? How much do you pay just in employee payroll tax per year? How much tax revenue do you generate for your city?
