Uh huh. And in the 60s you had "hide under your desk from the nuke" drills.

Pray tell... What occurs more often? A fire in the workplace, or a mass shooting?

Yesterday morning the school police officer shows up in his home room class, asks him to stand, places handcuffs on him and leads him to the office where the Principal and several teachers begin to interrogate him about having a firearm on campus.

Get an attorney!

Once the officer detained him they should have contacted you immediately!

If your son snap chatted from your house...then your son did not break any rules on school grounds and they do not have the authority to punish him for what he did at home.

Are you a minority? If so, then you probably will never have to worry about money again.

If you are white...how do you even live with with yourself!?! Oppressor!

School board

Fires are dangerous too...it isnt a contest. But mass shootings are a legitimate and highly prepared for threat that organizations train and prepare for. There arent a whole lot of mass fire deaths at schools either. I imagine sandy hook probably had more student deaths than the last year of school fires.

Been worded just slightly different, this could have all been avoided.

People are down voting you, but it’s spot on, it’s a shitty situation, but this is what being vigilant means, see something, say something. It’s bullshite if she stated he had a firearm at school. The school board would also convene to meet with you immediately, but if we are going to be able to prevent these types of things from happening addressing the warning signs, which you can see how someone from the outside looking in may have interpreted this poorly, is very important

Your boy should apologize and you should emphasize that he is a good kid who hasnt done anything stupid like this in the past.

Just curious what mistake you think he made?

Also, its interesting that the boy so far has made zero references to the school. Its even more interesting the school is making disciplinary actions for actions not made at school. Thats a super slippery slope.

Oh? Then why did you go back and edit your comment where you said it's more important to have mass shooting training compared to fire drills eh?

Don't crawfish now boy.

You're more likely to be struck by lightning. Do we train for lightning strikes? No? Oh...

I'd wager the ratio of fires to mass shootings is at least 500:1.

But hey. Keep on keeping on

Exactly. Basically anyone who wants a gun can get a gun here. The only defense is identitying threats before they happen. If a kid has to cry because he made a stupid post on social media to potentially prevent the next Sandy Hook then so be it.

Also, a parent who buys their kid an air soft gun should probably give them a talk about making sure people dont mistake it for a real firearm. Did the OP have that talk with his kid? Doesnt sound like it.

P.S the OP should at least post the picture from snapchat here before you assume they over reacted.

Every air soft gun has an orange tip on it. State law and it can't be removed. It was simply a picture of the gun on his bed. You can clearly see the orange plastic tip.

Edit my post? Wtf you talking about child?

But its a fact that many organizations have more training requirements to active shooters than any other workplace danger.

I worked at the Navy Yard btw. You probably don't get much training at the Sizzler so you might not know what I am talking about.

My friend had an air soft gun that looked like an assault rifle but fair enough. I believe your son's had the orange tip.

All my children have completed a firearm safety class along with their hunter safety courses. Again, all air soft guns have orange tips on them that can't be removed.

I can believe that. I'm not sure how long ago they made it law but things have certainly changed in the last couple of years.

Not sure about outside of South Carolina but we were told when we purchased it that it was the law here and not to remove it.
