They are blocking the road. They are armed. I’m not sure what your definition of blockade is.

I'm not sure of what your definition of a "blockade" is.

If they were parked sideways, I'd be more inclined to say they were blockading him. The fact that he was able to run around the side of the vehicle and could have continued running forward before he decided to act stupid and try to grab someone else's weapon seems to show there was no blockade.

That entire episode was battle of the stupids.

Here's how it ends... One dies. The other 2 go to jail.

I like how you point out one's actions as being stupid but not the other's. These two dipshits had ZERO knowledge if a crime had been committed or not. Citizens do not get to chase dudes down while brandishing guns on suspicion. The dad's own statement says they didn't see anything first hand.

They weren't "brandishing" a weapon. You're totally making that up.

Convict them of something justifiable or be ready for arse itching protests for years to come.

Not worth defending. Kid was a criminal. Not theirs to pursue, disrupt, or kill.

Georgia law doesn't address brandishing. What they did was aggravated assault:
quote:

§ 16-5-20. Simple assault

(a) A person commits the offense of simple assault when he or she either:

(1) Attempts to commit a violent injury to the person of another; or

(2) Commits an act which places another in reasonable apprehension of immediately receiving a violent injury.

quote:

§ 16-5-21. Aggravated assault

(a) A person commits the offense of aggravated assault when he or she assaults:

(1) With intent to murder, to rape, or to rob;

(2) With a deadly weapon or with any object, device, or instrument which, when used offensively against a person, is likely to or actually does result in serious bodily injury

Because their citizen's arrest was illegally initiated, what they did is considered aggravated assault. Because Ahmaud died during an aggravated assault, they can be charged with murder.

Put yourself in the position for just a second.

A guy is standing in a pickup bed with a hand gun yelling at you.

Another guy has gotten out of the drivers side and is holding a shot gun.

Meanwhile, their friend is driving up behind you.

You don’t think they’re trying to block the road and detain you?

Well, this still shot tells me a few things: One, they were definitely blocking the road. That's the son's legs to the left in the other lane. He has the shotgun in his hands. You also see Arbery leaning towards the side he ran to. The shithead redneck then goes to cut him off. It's pretty easy to assume Arbery felt like he had to fight for his life at that point.

For aggravated assault? That's a pretty big stretch

Ignoring the fact that "casing houses" isn't a legal term, please explain how it places another human in "reasonable apprehension of immediately receiving a violent injury"

I'm still waiting to learn out how there was a blockade, which was supposed to scare this soon-to-be dead guy so bad that he felt no choice but to try to grab someone else's weapon while it was in their hands.

Perhaps you missed this. He had the truck in the right lane, Capt. Dipshit in the left lane with a shotgun and a car behind him.

Regardless of the relevance, are you implying Arbery was a career criminal? Do you know what “career criminal” means? It means the profit from your crimes is your primary, if not exclusive, source of income. No factual evidence suggests anything close to this.

I knew a guy who bought beer with a fake ID in college. He still smokes the occasional bowl. He’s not a career criminal, though he has committed crimes with regularity for years.
