After Bush won reelection in 2004, I distinctly remember Karl Rove appearing on Fox News with a black marker and his infamous whiteboard and dramatically declaring that the fruited plain had entered a new era of a permanent Republican majority.
Rove had formulated this complex equation based on polling data from various battleground states which indicated large swaths of the demographic in these polling districts overwhelmingly supported the policies of the Bush Administration.
Of course as we all know, the 2006 midterms saw the Democons trounce the Republicrats in the House and successfully flip several Red State Senate seats.
And the 2008 Presidential election cycle propelled the community-organizer-in-chief into the White House.
