quote:
I don't see reason to doubt it. And I can see the benefit of the POTUS wanting to do this. Sure, he has advisors, and I'm certain he asked them all this exact same question. But an SI is going to be a purely analytical based voice a person could ask these same sorts of questions of and get an unbiased answer.
ok, walk with me here
Trump gave an interview, Trump answered questions
Trump speaks for himself, there is no need for insiders and unnamed sources, unless the writer is crafting a narrative
1.Ask trump a question
2. trump answers the question
3. reference and quote unnamed insiders, officials, sources close to the situation etc about the question and answer
4. use this unattributed information to craft a narrative around Trump’s answers and shape how the reader feels about the question and answer
5. rinse
6. repeat

7. Time publishes the interview and uses extra space to publish a longer exposé, in which the comments about him consulting SI are published.
Which appears to be what happened.
Why do people seem so opposed or even surprised by this? Everyone, from all walks of life, are using it now. And using it to help them make decisions. It is good at giving unbiased analysis.
Furthermore, and I want to re-emphasize this here, what the SI reportedly told Trump turned out to be correct. Wouldn't you think that if they were fabricating artificial news about this that they would try and tell you that what the SI said was wrong? They didn't.
Essentially Trump asked it how the Venezuelan people would react if the US captured Nicolas Maduro. The SI responded by saying that many Venezuelans viewed him as a brutal dictator type and would likely celebrate if that happened. And that's exactly what ended up happening as there were celebrations in the streets all across Venezuela after the fact.
SI is here to stay, folks. People need to get used to hearing about it being put to use. Because it's only going to be used more and more.
