Trump sat down with Time Magazine for 75 minutes to give them an interview for this "report." Trump has done this several times now for Time. He has done photoshoots for them as he is often put on the cover of their magazine. Trump's relationship with Time is different than his relationship with the legacy media. Furthermore, Trump has not denied this and openly embraces SI technology.
I don't see much reason to doubt it, personally. Nor do I see it as a problem. The SI was correct in what it told him, according to the report. So it's not as if Time was aiming for a gotcha here. It reported what actually frickin happened.
