OOPs. Former USA TODAY reporter's work removed after accusations of fabrication

Gabriela Miranda seen below has had a rough time. Seems she, like Stephen Glass before her, have been 'making it up'.
some of the articles are fluff...
But, you guessed it. She got a bias on certain topics....
Thankfully, most liberals will look the other way.... 3 years from now, Miranda can run for a local democratic house seat.
I'm always amazed how the news breaks in one direction only. Like most people, once compromised, how can you trust anything on these or other stories she reported?

After receiving an external correction request, USA TODAY audited the reporting work of Gabriela Miranda. The audit revealed that some individuals quoted were not affiliated with the organizations claimed and appeared to be fabricated. The existence of other individuals quoted could not be independently verified. In addition, some stories included quotes that should have been credited to others.
As a result, USA TODAY removed 23 articles from its website and other platforms for not meeting our editorial standards. The headlines of the articles are listed below. Miranda has resigned as a reporter for USA TODAY and the USA TODAY Network.
We strive to be accurate and factual in all our content and regret this situation. We will continue to reinforce and strengthen our reporting and editing diligence and processes as we:

I have written for a few newspapers, even had a desk at one for a time. The editors are ultimately responsible for what gets published. The editors are supposed to (and used to do) fact check things, spot check fact checks, not necessarily every single article or source, but it's part of their job and they have dedicated departments specifically dedicated to fact checking their own reporters and stringers, especially when the story is "a little extreme" or "too good to be true".
USA Today is scapegoating this particular shitty reporter to try and save their reputation, but the fact it got published over and over and over, that's not just having one bullshite story "slip through the cracks", that is a culture of bullshite and a failure of an editor's most fundamental job function, behind only proper spelling and grammar.

USA Today used to have a great Money and Sports section. That was a daily must have on the plane.
Now they employ malcontents and plagiarists

Not good enough. She needs to have all credentials revoked permanently and never be allowed to work in journalism again.

No clue. I'm not in the field. I guess what I should have said is that there needs to be a way to legally prevent someone who gets caught doing this from ever working in the field again, and their editors should be punished the same.
In extreme cases, like when Sabrina Erdely completely fabricated that story about the girl getting gang raped at the UVA frat (ETA: link to Wiki entry about this), they should be able to be brought up on criminal charges and prosecuted.

Many of you guys are too young to remember when USA Today started. They were never really respected as a hard news paper. But they were actually more conservative than many papers in those days. That was the complaint about them. Things change.

Had that been Chick-Fil-A I would have believed it.
