I have listened to a few folks speculate that it is a “transmissible vaccine”
Implying it was engineered to overcome vaccine hesitancy (allow widespread community spread of a milder variant to achieve herd immunity)

There is a reason the CDC lowered the quarantine time to 5 days . They know the new virus will effect a lot more people. With a 10-14 day quarantine we would start to have some major supply chain issues .

Likely infected an animal with original strain, where it mutated over a year in that immediate population without affecting the animals. This is NOT rare to happen
