I think values matter.

What does the elite care about. What is their culture like?

The problem with America, it’s all people who made a fortune in business. They’re too concerned with money. And too selfish. Those traits made them rich, but they’re not suited to the long term health of society

It’s painfully obvious where our ruling class has their priorities.

Which is why I said what I did. Capitalism, for all its positives, will ultimately result in oligarchy because eventually those who worship rent-seeking above all else will triumph.

The arc of history bends towards greed. No matter from what angle it begins.

I think it’s Democracy.

But it could also be that the oligarchs preceeded Democracy and pushed for it to legitimize their control over society.

The Greeks found that Democracies devolved into oligarchy. And they tried a number of solutions to fix it. Including drawing government jobs through lots.
