Ole Mike Yenni might run for re-election after all

Background for all you non-locals: Dude's "grandfather" (there's some weird marriage and divorce issues, etc) was a well-like Mayor of Kenner and Jefferson Parish President. Young Mike started early in politics, became mayor of Kenner, where he did a pretty good job, and then became Jefferson Parish President.

By all accounts, he seems to have done a decent enough job as Parish President.

However, not long after his term as Parish President began, he was accused of having a prior affair with a 17 year old... boy. This, despite him being married, with a child, and a republican who always talked about family values. Part of the story involved him meeting the boy at the Esplanade Mall in Kenner and buying underwear for the boy.

Weird stuff, no doubt.

Pretty much every politician in Jefferson Parish tells him to resign. He says F U to all of them. He was investigated and no laws were broken. The Jefferson Parish school board voted to ban him from all campuses, even though he specifically was not arrested nor charged with anything - a ban that still exists. The vast majority of the parish politicians want nothing to do with him. It's been awkward, to say the least.

But, again, the parish doesn't have any major problems and seems to be running well.

So now it looks like he might run for re-election. He has two major opponents so far - the prior parish president, as well as a councilwoman at large who just so happens to be the daughter of an insanely popular former sheriff (Harry Lee).

This one could be fun to watch.
