I agree. I just dont get this at all.
Put aside the fact that's it's incedibly insensitive given the timing, but literslly thousands of faith based orgs helped in the clean up. Is this protocol? Is it really necessary to pat them on the head for presumably doing what hundreds (at least) of churches did?
Another poster brought up a good question; did they help everyone or just Muslims?

Obama thanked the congregation for helping to rebuild the city of Moore. It had nothing at all to do with Alton Nolen.

Of course it's a serious question. We need to determine the root cause of their desire to lop off our heads. Would they be satisfied if they chop off maybe 10 heads? My own personal feeling is that they should limit themselves to less than 10 head sawings, otherwise it will be difficult to tolerate them in the community.
Of course there are some cultural throwback retrogrades in my local area who lack the sophisticated wherewithal to tolerate even a single decapitated granny. In fact I believe we have some selfish grannies here who would rather create a cherry tomato-sized hole through a decapitator's medulla oblongata instead of donating their head to further a greater social acceptance. That gets us nowhere on the social integration continuum.
So, what should we do? I propose the next time you're confronted with a wide-eyed swarthy type wielding a blade yelling "Allah Snackbar," resist the temptation to caress the cool curves of your S&W .38 Airlight in your jeans pocket and simply ask, "Why do you hate us?"

From what I understand his only connection to Al Alaki was that he attended a fundraiser with him and has since renounced him. He referred to the Boston bombers as savages and said they were not true Muslims. He supports gay marriage and is universally known as one of the most modern and moderate of Muslim leaders.
