I'd be more surprised if Edwards, and others, DIDN'T have illegitimate children out there.
You asked for constructive thoughts. If it were me I'd do as much research on DNA as I could. Your facebook says he has 6 kids. Have you contacted other illegitimate children of Edwards? Do that, then compare DNA against one another to see if you have the same father.
IF you guys do, (bet you all won't) then you need to pursue comparing your DNA against his or another child. Or his niece (which will be acquired in some crazy-arse scheme with a glass and some guy you don't know. And who's word you will be taking that this is actually his niece). I'd figure out if the "niece's" DNA was close enough. Might not be. He might could claim some cousin fathered you.
You need to do a lot of research on this stuff by people who have done it. No offense to the poli board but most of this advice will be useless.
And for God's sake clean up that FB post! Your mom comes off as a total quack.

Is Edwin Edwards like King Robert in Game of Thrones?

Thank you, I have tried to talk with his 4 older kids. I actually met with David in person. No luck as none of them are willing to hear me out.
I agree about the post. I will try and clean it up.

if you did a 23 and me DNA test for $150 and opted in to the sharing option and 25 Edwards family members popped up you'd have your answer. It allows you to see your DNA matches. I can't believe you haven't done that if this is really a pressing issue.

my uncle had a few whore houses and edwards was his best client. was your mom a prostitute?
i may know who she is as i knew a few of these working girls.

I have, I do have connections with some edwards relative like 3rd and 4th cousins. No direct.

So you know you are in the Edwards bloodline already? You just haven't established what the link is?

The only other option is;
After he dies they will have him lying in state I'm sure so that all of Louisiana can mourn. You could "pay your respects" and scrape off some of his skin at the casket. Then do a test.
After they bury him you'd have to get him exhumed. Bet that's not happening.
This would probably be one of the most challenging identities/paternity cases to prove since I'm sure you will be stonewalled at every turn. You can do it, it will just take outside the box thinking. And probably 20-50k in PI fees.

Ok let me think about this. Seems like you might actually need a direct DNA sample from ol Edwin. Would you consider paying a PI the grand it would cost to collect that?

I have no clue how good your chances of being a EWE bastard. But if I were you, I’d want to know too. For many reasons. 1-natural curiosity, 2-medical background information, 3- a new family, and 4-a cut of his kickbacks could be real bucks.
Try to approach other EWE relatives, their DNA is just as valuable for identification, and unlike surreptitiously acquired samples, these would be court ready.

Yes, for 1k. I don't really want to spend a lot doing this.

damn. i was hoping that i may know her. nevertheless..........good luck on your hunt.

Look, any PI would be interested in an Edwards paternity issue because that would be fun. Why don't you make some calls? They could set up a meeting and get that surreptitious sample and you'd have your answer.

Honestly, have a private invesstigator to follow him and get a glass, cigarette but, handkerchief, etc that he leaves behind and have it tested for DNA and compare to yours.
I dont know the guy or anyone around him, but i assume he wont be open to a discussion with you.

One of Edwards daughters is an Uber driver in BR. She drove us one night and she is absolutely batshit crazy. Only took her a few minutes before she started bragging about who her dad was. Be careful what you wish for OP.

Just keep this bumped to the top, bc the night crew is much better equipped to assist in this thread.
Eta: just noticed that this wasn't the ot...why isn't this the ot?
