Enter Fatum

A group of researchers have been toying with the idea of “digging rabbit holes in reality.” The US-based group refers to themselves as “randonauts.” The group reports on Reddit. A rough outline is posted on Github. Fatum Theory is based on deterministic fate and its byproducts. The project is a collective of participants interested in using quantum randomness to introduce novelty into their own reality tunnel. The theory and science behind it is cumbersome and complex and probably best suited for more scholarly publications?—?and written by someone in academia. One organizer related to me that it takes up to a month for most people to grasp the project. What I have posted here is a very watered down introduction to the theory. Researchers have their own theories how this works. Basically, using a quantum source, the researchers have programmed a bot to find locations. These random points are outside of the researcher’s predetermined life path. By visiting these locations, the Randonaut briefly moves off script and disrupts the simulation. They also change their own view of the world. Even though these coordinates are local, they are often in areas that are novel and previously unexplored by the researcher. Randonauts are encouraged to notice signs, graffiti or pick up innocuous items as “tokens” of their experience. Many Randonauts report a sense of despair or dread discouraging them from participating in the research. Although it may be predetermined that you would travel “somewhere”, there is no way for the simulation to predict the location provided by the quantum source. The “where” is truly random and novel. The general consensus is to have a clear intent of how you what you want to change in your reality tunnel, then set out to explore three locations.

Jacques Vallee hesitated before agreeing to be interviewed about the subject for which he's most famous: UFOs. It's not that he's reluctant to discuss the topic or tussle with the skeptics. After all, he's written close to a dozen books on UFOs -- several of them best-sellers -- analyzing a notoriously ethereal subject as a hard-headed physical scientist, folklorist, and sociologist. He believes there is more than enough solid evidence to make a compelling case for the existence of UFOs. And he doesn't shy away from an honest debate. It's the hard-core believers who give Vallee pause. Anyone who has observed the semi-academic cockpit known as "UFOlogy" knows that close encounters of the UFO expert kind shed little light and much heat, dogma and territorial sniping. Vallee's views about UFOs are far more exotic and far stranger than what he calls the reigning "nuts and bolts" approach to the subject.

Consequently, he's been attacked by believers so often that he jokingly refers to himself a "heretic among heretics". As Vallee puts it, "I will be disappointed if UFOs turn out to be nothing more than spaceships." In his recent autobiographical book Forbidden Science, Vallee summed up his views about the provenance of UFOs -- a viewpoint that he's developed through decades of research. "The UFO phenomenon exists. It has been with us throughout History. It is physical in nature and it remains unexplained in terms of contemporary Science. It represents a level of consciousness that we have not yet recognized, and which is able to manipulate dimensions beyond time and space as we understand them."

[Vallee]: There is a phenomenon. We don't know where it comes from. It's characterized by its physical [traces]. 80 percent of all the cases have trivial explanations. But I'm talking about 2 the core phenomena. It seems to involve a lot of energy in a small space. It seems to involve pulsed microwaves among other things. There isn't much that is known about the effect of pulsed microwaves on the brain, so it's quite possible that some of the stories that you get from people are essentially induced hallucinations in sincere witnesses (i.e., the witnesses are not lying). They really have been exposed to something genuine. But there is no way to go back to what that thing was based on their description, because their brain has been affected by proximity to that energy.

It is not just that the UAPs that military pilots are encountering are strange — no paint, rivets, wings, antenna, safety lights, transponders or exhaust — but they sometimes are so fast and maneuverable that they defy our understanding of physics. For example, some of these vehicles appear to withstand forces of acceleration far greater than maximum design limits of any man-made aircraft. No wonder some military witnesses — often pilots who are scientists or engineers themselves — actually lean toward the hypothesis that they are not from this world. Like all good scientists, these pilots recognize that our theories must adjust to facts and new information, however daunting, not the other way around.

If our best minds were brought to bear to study the technology confronting us, much as the Japanese did in the 1850s when confronted by Admiral Perry’s fleet, then unprecedented technological breakthroughs could occur in short order. For example, the fact that these craft do not seem to produce exhaust yet fly vast distances at immense speeds could provide technical solutions to our energy crisis.

Some of America’s finest aviators and air defense personnel are trying to get our attention. They are not panicked — but they are right to be concerned. It seems clear the facts demand further action. In light of the facts, a mere report requirement seems a very modest response to potentially disturbing new national security information. If UAPs turn out to be toys of Elon Musk’s making, we’ll all breathe a sigh of relief. If they are Russian, we’ll be glad we took action now rather than kicking the can down the road. If we learn that someone else’s more advanced version of our Voyager spacecraft has reached Earth, then this humble measure will forever transform our understanding of the universe and man’s place within it.

By any measure, the effort required to prepare a report for Congress seems to be a bargain.
