In 2003, Swedish philosopher Nick Bostrum proposed we may be existing in a virtual reality orchestrated by our descendants who wanted to recreate their ancestors. He suggested that if technology advanced to the point where we could create such a virtual world, we would likely create multiple copies. If our descendants managed this feat sometime in the future, Bostrum argued, then the odds were that you and I are one of many copies living in a simulation rather than the base reality.
quote:
The idea of this is hardly new. The ancient Gnostics believed we were under the control of malevolent Archons. These beings were minions of the Demiurge, a kind of false god who stands between man and the transcendent God of the universe. Archons rule mankind through eons of devious trickery. Our souls are trapped in a kind of prison on this planet until we gain sufficient knowledge to free ourselves from the cycle of control. In many eastern philosophies, the world is considered to be an illusion, or maya. Whether you call it a computer simulation, or something else, the dynamic is the same. Reality is not what it appears to be and we are being duped.
quote:
If we live in a simulation but free will does exist, it is likely our agency is restricted to those choices to keep us on a path to major life events. It doesn’t matter if we go to dinner or a movie with the blind date, as long as we end up meeting so we can marry them. Some might call this “destiny.” If we have a specific milestones, the control over us may be coded into our preferences and our dislikes to keep us on track. So life isn’t so much a path, but a tunnel. We can move about within the narrow focus of our reality but we are always traveling to predetermined destinations. We are only free to choose the options presented to us. But Choice A or Choice B always leads to predetermined Outcome Y from the script. Or we are hardwired to always choose A because we have never had a preference for B. The idea we have free will is an illusion inside the illusion. Our options are limited because the outcome has already been decided. We can move within our reality tunnel, but we can’t move outside it.
quote:
Enter Fatum
A group of researchers have been toying with the idea of “digging rabbit holes in reality.” The US-based group refers to themselves as “randonauts.” The group reports on Reddit. A rough outline is posted on Github. Fatum Theory is based on deterministic fate and its byproducts. The project is a collective of participants interested in using quantum randomness to introduce novelty into their own reality tunnel. The theory and science behind it is cumbersome and complex and probably best suited for more scholarly publications?—?and written by someone in academia. One organizer related to me that it takes up to a month for most people to grasp the project. What I have posted here is a very watered down introduction to the theory. Researchers have their own theories how this works. Basically, using a quantum source, the researchers have programmed a bot to find locations. These random points are outside of the researcher’s predetermined life path. By visiting these locations, the Randonaut briefly moves off script and disrupts the simulation. They also change their own view of the world. Even though these coordinates are local, they are often in areas that are novel and previously unexplored by the researcher. Randonauts are encouraged to notice signs, graffiti or pick up innocuous items as “tokens” of their experience. Many Randonauts report a sense of despair or dread discouraging them from participating in the research. Although it may be predetermined that you would travel “somewhere”, there is no way for the simulation to predict the location provided by the quantum source. The “where” is truly random and novel. The general consensus is to have a clear intent of how you what you want to change in your reality tunnel, then set out to explore three locations.

VALIS is a 1981 science fiction novel by American writer Philip K. Dick. The title is an acronym for Vast Active Living Intelligence System, Dick's gnostic vision of one aspect of God. Followed by The Divine Invasion It is the first book in the incomplete VALIS trilogy of novels, followed by The Divine Invasion (1981). The planned third novel, The Owl in Daylight, had not yet taken definite shape at the time of the author's death.[1] Radio Free Albemuth, a posthumously published earlier version of VALIS, is not included as a component of the VALIS trilogy. Dick completed one more novel after The Divine Invasion, The Transmigration of Timothy Archer (1982), based on Dick's association with Bishop James A. Pike and not connected to the VALIS theme.
Contents Synopsis
Horselover Fat believes his visions expose hidden facts about the reality of life on Earth, and a group of others join him in researching these matters. One of their theories is that there is some kind of alien space probe in orbit around Earth, and that it is aiding them in their quest. It also aided the United States in disclosing the Watergate scandal and the resignation of Richard Nixon in 1974. There is a filmed account of an alternative universe Nixon, "Ferris Fremont" and his fall, engineered by a fictionalised Valis, which leads them to an estate owned by the Lamptons, popular musicians. Valis (the fictional film) contains obvious references to identical revelations to those that Horselover Fat has experienced. They decide the goal that they have been led toward is Sophia, who is two years old and the Messiah or incarnation of Holy Wisdom ("pistis sophia") anticipated by some variants of Gnostic Christianity. She tells them that their conclusions are correct, but dies after a laser accident. Undeterred, Fat goes on a global search for the next incarnation of Sophia. Dick also offers a rationalist explanation of his apparent theophany, acknowledging that it might have been visual and auditory hallucinations from either schizophrenia or drug addiction sequelae.[2

Dead LA man who had 1,200 guns, underwater car identified; believed to be ‘part alien’ secret government worker
By MELISSA CHAN NEW YORK DAILY NEWS | JUL 23, 2015
quote:
The mystery behind a Los Angeles gun fanatic found decomposing in a car last week has deepened as his fiancée's family said he was an alien-hybrid secretly working for the government.
The bizarre statement came Wednesday as the betrothed woman's lawyer identified the dead man as Jeffrey Alan Lash — almost one week after he was discovered rotting in his car parked on the street in the tony Pacific Palisades neighborhood.
quote:
Los Angeles police found more than 1,200 guns, nearly 7 tons of ammunition, bows and arrows, knives, machetes and $230,000 in cash inside Lash's home last Friday. They also discovered a Toyota SUV designed to drive underwater among the 14 vehicles registered in his name.
quote:
The collection was as odd as Lash's confessions to his soon-to-be-wife Catherine Nebron that he was working as an undercover operative for multiple unnamed government agencies, according to her defense attorney Harland Braun. "The story itself sounds totally crazy, but then how do you explain all this?" Braun said. "There's no evidence he was a drug dealer or he stole these weapons, or had any criminal source of income, no stolen property, all the stuff you'd look for."
quote:
Lash was also believed to be an alien "sent to Earth to protect us," according to Laura VadBunker, the mother of 39-year-old Dawn VadBunker, who used to work for Nebron. "I can't believe this," Laura VadBunker told KTLA. "It's worse than a Twilight Zone movie. He was part alien and part human and was out to save the world."
quote:
He had been decomposing inside his car for nearly two weeks before police found him on July 17
The longtime girlfriend of 17 years then left for Oregon, believing government agencies would come for his body and the items in his house.

PDF of Vallee interview:
https://www.stealthskater.com/Documents/Vallee_01.pdf
quote:
Jacques Vallee hesitated before agreeing to be interviewed about the subject for which he's most famous: UFOs. It's not that he's reluctant to discuss the topic or tussle with the skeptics. After all, he's written close to a dozen books on UFOs -- several of them best-sellers -- analyzing a notoriously ethereal subject as a hard-headed physical scientist, folklorist, and sociologist. He believes there is more than enough solid evidence to make a compelling case for the existence of UFOs. And he doesn't shy away from an honest debate. It's the hard-core believers who give Vallee pause. Anyone who has observed the semi-academic cockpit known as "UFOlogy" knows that close encounters of the UFO expert kind shed little light and much heat, dogma and territorial sniping. Vallee's views about UFOs are far more exotic and far stranger than what he calls the reigning "nuts and bolts" approach to the subject.
Consequently, he's been attacked by believers so often that he jokingly refers to himself a "heretic among heretics". As Vallee puts it, "I will be disappointed if UFOs turn out to be nothing more than spaceships." In his recent autobiographical book Forbidden Science, Vallee summed up his views about the provenance of UFOs -- a viewpoint that he's developed through decades of research. "The UFO phenomenon exists. It has been with us throughout History. It is physical in nature and it remains unexplained in terms of contemporary Science. It represents a level of consciousness that we have not yet recognized, and which is able to manipulate dimensions beyond time and space as we understand them."
quote:
60GCAT]: Why are Americans obsessed with the idea that outer-space aliens are the pilots of UFOs?
[Vallee]: I think Americans -- if they are interested in the subject -- are very literal. They want to "kick the tires", which is a good American thing to do. They want to do reverse-engineering on the propulsion system. And when I tell them, "Look, maybe those things don't have a propulsion system", you get a strange reaction. Just like, if you remember, in "Close Encounters", the Truffaut character keeps going around saying this is a sociological phenomenon -- not just physical. And he has a lot of trouble getting that idea across.
[60GCAT]: At one point, you subscribed to the theory that UFOs might be extraterrestrial in origin.
[Vallee]: When I met Stephen Spielberg, I argued with him that the subject was even more interesting if it wasn't extraterrestrials. If it was real, physical, but not ET. So he said, "You're probably right. But that's not what the public is expecting. This is Hollywood and I want to give people something that's close to what they expect." Which is fair. [60GCAT]: So what do we know for sure about the nature of UFOs?
[Vallee]: There is a phenomenon. We don't know where it comes from. It's characterized by its physical [traces]. 80 percent of all the cases have trivial explanations. But I'm talking about 2 the core phenomena. It seems to involve a lot of energy in a small space. It seems to involve pulsed microwaves among other things. There isn't much that is known about the effect of pulsed microwaves on the brain, so it's quite possible that some of the stories that you get from people are essentially induced hallucinations in sincere witnesses (i.e., the witnesses are not lying). They really have been exposed to something genuine. But there is no way to go back to what that thing was based on their description, because their brain has been affected by proximity to that energy.

The Secrets of the Wood Wide Web In London’s Epping Forest, a scientist named Merlin eavesdrops on trees’ underground conversations.
By Robert MacfarlaneAugust 7, 2016
quote:
Earlier this summer I spent two days there, wandering and talking with a young plant scientist named Merlin Sheldrake. Sheldrake is an expert in mycorrhizal fungi, and as such he is part of a research revolution that is changing the way we think about forests. For centuries, fungi were widely held to be harmful to plants, parasites that cause disease and dysfunction. More recently, it has become understood that certain kinds of common fungi exist in subtle symbiosis with plants, bringing about not infection but connection. These fungi send out gossamer-fine fungal tubes called hyphae, which infiltrate the soil and weave into the tips of plant roots at a cellular level. Roots and fungi combine to form what is called a mycorrhiza: itself a growing-together of the Greek words for fungus (mykós) and root (riza). In this way, individual plants are joined to one another by an underground hyphal network: a dazzlingly complex and collaborative structure that has become known as the Wood Wide Web.

quote:
In philosophy, anamnesis (/?ænæm'ni?s?s/; Ancient Greek: ???µ??s??) is a concept in Plato's epistemological and psychological theory that he develops in his dialogues Meno and Phaedo, and alludes to in his Phaedrus. It is the idea that humans possess innate knowledge (perhaps acquired before birth) and that learning consists of rediscovering that knowledge within us.
quote:
Socrates' response is to develop his theory of anamnesis. He suggests that the soul is immortal, and repeatedly incarnated; knowledge is in the soul from eternity (86b), but each time the soul is incarnated its knowledge is forgotten in the trauma of birth. What one perceives to be learning, then, is the recovery of what one has forgotten. (Once it has been brought back it is true belief, to be turned into genuine knowledge by understanding.) And thus Socrates (and Plato) sees himself, not as a teacher, but as a midwife, aiding with the birth of knowledge that was already there in the student. The theory is illustrated by Socrates asking a slave boy questions about geometry. At first the boy gives the wrong answer; when this is pointed out to him, he is puzzled, but by asking questions Socrates is able to help him to reach the correct answer. This is intended to show that, as the boy wasn't told the answer, he could only have reached the truth by recollecting what he had already known but forgotten.

A New Theory of Consciousness: The Mind Exists as a Field Connected to the Brain By Tara MacIsaac •
Dec 19, 2018
quote:
An article published in the September 2017 edition of NeuroQuantology reviews and expands upon the current theories of consciousness that arise from this meeting of neuroscience and quantum physics. Dr. Dirk K.F. Meijer, a professor at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands, hypothesizes that consciousness resides in a field surrounding the brain. This field is in another dimension. It shares information with the brain through quantum entanglement, among other methods. And it has certain similarities with a black hole. This field may be able to pick up information from the Earth’s magnetic field, dark energy, and other sources. It then “transmits wave information into the brain tissue, that … is instrumental in high-speed conscious and subconscious information processing,” Dirk wrote. In other words, the “mind” is a field that exists around the brain; it picks up information from outside the brain and communicates it to the brain in an extremely fast process. He described this field alternately as “a holographic structured field,” a “receptive mental workspace,” a “meta-cognitive domain,” and the “global memory space of the individual.”

The mind may reside in another spatial dimension.

The SETI [Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence] cultists assume that interstellar travel is impossible even though they know nothing about it. They assume that aliens would send signals using technology compatible with our techniques roughly 100 years into the age of radio. There are stars less than 40 light years away that are over a billion years older than the sun. Surely their technology is more advanced. Rarely do astronomers point out how terribly wrong they have been in the past. Venus is not a tropical jungle. Mars has had water, and electromagnetic effects are very important in the solar system. Obviously if aliens are visiting, listening for signals using our technology makes no sense. So many cases of arrogance coupled with ignorance. Friend, foe or unknown force flying overhead? Congress should find out
BY CHRISTOPHER MELLON, OPINION CONTRIBUTOR
quote:
What these UAPs were and who was flying them — whether friends, foes or unknown forces — remains a mystery. Yet careful examination of the data inevitably leads to one possible, disturbing conclusion: A potential adversary of the United States has mastered technologies we do not yet understand to achieve capabilities we cannot yet match.
quote:
It is not just that the UAPs that military pilots are encountering are strange — no paint, rivets, wings, antenna, safety lights, transponders or exhaust — but they sometimes are so fast and maneuverable that they defy our understanding of physics. For example, some of these vehicles appear to withstand forces of acceleration far greater than maximum design limits of any man-made aircraft. No wonder some military witnesses — often pilots who are scientists or engineers themselves — actually lean toward the hypothesis that they are not from this world. Like all good scientists, these pilots recognize that our theories must adjust to facts and new information, however daunting, not the other way around.
If our best minds were brought to bear to study the technology confronting us, much as the Japanese did in the 1850s when confronted by Admiral Perry’s fleet, then unprecedented technological breakthroughs could occur in short order. For example, the fact that these craft do not seem to produce exhaust yet fly vast distances at immense speeds could provide technical solutions to our energy crisis.
Some of America’s finest aviators and air defense personnel are trying to get our attention. They are not panicked — but they are right to be concerned. It seems clear the facts demand further action. In light of the facts, a mere report requirement seems a very modest response to potentially disturbing new national security information. If UAPs turn out to be toys of Elon Musk’s making, we’ll all breathe a sigh of relief. If they are Russian, we’ll be glad we took action now rather than kicking the can down the road. If we learn that someone else’s more advanced version of our Voyager spacecraft has reached Earth, then this humble measure will forever transform our understanding of the universe and man’s place within it.
By any measure, the effort required to prepare a report for Congress seems to be a bargain.
The bolded above cannot be understated
The technology would completely change many facets of geopolitics, if it is indeed a propulsion system...
