The unions want it both ways: They don't want to actually teach, but they don't want the districts to just go with online charter schools to handle remote learning.

Either get their lazy self back into a classroom or lose their job. The results make it clear that they aren't equipped to handle online teaching and the students are not ready to learn that way. There's no point in paying teachers their salaries at all unless schools reopen when there are so many cheaper ways to provide an lackluster online curriculum.
