Wrong... you don’t just “get it”... There are lots of indications of oil off the west coast and a lot of the land has been leased for exploration by many companies. Short weather window, distance from supplies and low prices have caused companies to explore in easier/cheaper prospects in their portfolios... there is oil there but no one has yet “cracked the code” to understand where to drill successfully. (FWIW- I’m a geologist who worked for a company who has leases there and have actually been on the ground there over 2 summers looking at the rocks. Yes, LOTS of potential there - not just O&G but for mineral mining...)
