I suspect they hope to get enough emails, etc to show the bias of the media at the very least. If they can show any deliberate effort to steer the story it will be devastating for the msm.

AS much as I would love to see the Washington Post, et al get taken down and have Bezos write at least an 8 figure check, libel/ slander is a hard case to prove especially with media outlets. Sandmann would have to prove that the coverage and intimations have had a sort of irreparable effect on him and future abilities at being able to make a living like in the Jewell case
The assertion in Jewell was that he fit some sort of profile of a type that would be a bomber because of his lifestyle....single , pushing 40 lived at home with mom and something of a frustrated police officer wannbe, etc. As an adult, these assertions made it impossible for him to gain employment just about anywhere in the metro Atlanta - or anywhere in reality, market. When it turned out that Jewell was just a guy doing his job, these news outlets who had smeared him where in deep doo -doo.
Sandmann is a kid all of 16-17 and he was not and is not implicated in a heinous crime. It is questionable whether his future livelihood would be jeopardized through malicious reporting and innuendo inspired by such reckless reporting
Like I said though, I would love to see a liberal rag fork over some money on this matter. From a karmic point of view it would be just

We KNOW the kids acted with great restraint considering the dark-skinned thugs had the intention of attacking "whitey" without provocation.

You know the media was not interested in reporting the truth. Actions have consequences. Being a smartass teenager does not give the mainstream media or social media the right to slander an individual to fit an agenda. It was malicious. Not an accident. This isn’t a fender bender. This is intent to do harm with a vehicle.
