So you want to know if, as an HR professional (allegedly), you can fire this person for being gay without fear of legal recourse BEFORE he even starts?

at the risk of sounding like I'm taking up for this idiot, that was not his question.

not sure about the OP's case, but you should expect potential employers to comb through your social media and use what they find in their decision process.

Is this a company or is this post really about your upcoming first day in Jr. High?

Unless he comes in wearing assless chaps or pushing a wheelbarrow full of plastic dicks, don't worry about it until/unless something actually happens.

This bring up two concerns:
1. If we ever want to fire him, is there a good way to legally protect the company so that he can't say he was fired because he is gay?
2. We have no control how clients feel about working with gay employees.

1. Document, document, document and when the time comes, the paperwork justifies any firing
2. Not the clients business

Why is it anybody business if he or she is gay. Man its 2014. Sexual orientation is of no concern to clients. nd how to do you know this is the first gay person there? maybe the first openly gay person.

I'm sure its been said a bunch in this thread, but I'm willing to bet he is not the first gay employee.

And what is even the point of this thread? Who cares if he's gay?
