From what I have seen a lot, kids generally fall into groups where they feel comfortable/are accepted. It *seems* a lot of the time that many of them don’t really HAVE any strongly held convictions but go along with the group think.

Not really hard to look around on the internet and see where someone could be radicalized on either side.

Kid like many probably based his entire personality around his political beliefs and took it upon himself to be a hero among his people.

He received a scholarship to Utah State, but dropped out after one semester. Not much time to be brainwashed.
To me it's telling that one of his family members shared his dislike of Charlie Kirk.
