It's payment for the ex's silence, plain and simple. If Joe and Mika were both outed as home wreckers and adulterers in the press, Morning Joe would never be the same and would eventually be cancelled. That's worth the $30k per month in "alimony".

I know someone whose wife didn't sleep with him for almost 15 years.
In the 15th, he cheated.
I mean yeah, he should have divorced her LONG before that.
But, would we really call that "scummy"?
I know another whose wife cheated on him no less than 7 times with 7 different men. He stayed for the kids.
Finally, he gave up and yeah, he should have divorced her first, but he cheated.
Is that "scummy"?
And, while the above examples were men, I know that it works the other way too.

I am not a Trump voter. Even still, Trump having multiple affairs has little or nothing to do with his ability to govern, as we have had dozens of Presidents who were adulterers.
But with Morning Joe, you have two people on a show together who were engaged in affair, wrecked their families and divorced their spouses, and yet act like everything is pie in the sky. You're naive if you don't think that people will turn off Joe and Mika because of this.
