How much would sea levels rise anyways if the ice melted?
Sea ice? Zero.
Land ice? Depends how much the land expands when the weight of the ice is removed and other geologic factors.
But it’s a lot more complicated than that. Water reaches its maximum density around 42 degrees F. As it reaches freezing it decreases in density until it freezes and the density decreases by a factor of 20%. That’s why ice floats. Just before freezing water has the same density as 52 degree F water.
Then you have to account for the compressibility of water. We ignore it on small scales because it’s minicule but on a global scale you should account for it not only as a function of temperature but as a function of pressure too.
In other words it’s complicated.

Robin Williams had a great line on this: “Instead of a Mars Lander, it’s a Mars Burier.”
FWIW, Mars has an atmosphere composed of 95% CO2 but it is extremely cold on Mars.
I know it’s further from the sun but if CO2 is a greenhouse gas Mars should be warm.

It was -42° in Billings this morning. In 11 years and 236 days it will be a surfers paradise.
Wait til summer to talk about temperatures.

Hansen is part of the lawsuit VOR was pulling his pathetic little pud over yesterday.

Good thing we started to address the issue back then

Deserves it's own thread, but a top NASA scientist said in an article this week that the moon is in the Earth's Atmosphere...
Look for them to use that to explain the flag waving on the moon...

At the beginning of the satellite record, the consensus of climate scientists were certain we were going into an ice age, due to pollution blocking sunlight. This is well documented, and many are still here like me to remember the newspaper and magazine articles. Ice was at a high during that period. The missing period prior to that is skewing the graph you posted. I suggest you search for photos from the first nuclear submarines surfacing at the pole in open water to relieve your worry.

That is not how this works.

We might enter an ice age if this minimum cycle is particularly long. The question is what do the next few solar maximums look like too? Those large temp swings are in part where the extreme weather predictions come from.
Keep in mind the IPCC guys are talking about disastrous effects in the long term... E.g. year 2100
