In the last few years, though, I've become aware of the stories that Gaddafi was taking active steps to promote a new currency (the Gold Dinar) for themselves and for at least some of their neighboring African states. Essentially, he was going to move away from the US backed petrodollar... which would hurt the US and France (and of course, the central banks ***and those who own them***). On top of oil, Gaddafi supposedly had significant stores of gold and silver to back this initiative and had strong support from neighboring states.

I think evidence of the plotting of tihs are in the Clinton Wikileaks emails... basically, Clinton and Sarkozy in France concocted some story and backed by NATO created some pretense to overthrow Gaddafi's government. Again, at the time, I had no clue of this, and I still haven't read the Wikileaks emails. But there's plenty of stories online suggesting this is true. If so, basically destroying a country under false pretenses of terrorism to cover that we were really thwarting their attempt at greater financial autonomy... and then leaving their country in a state of wreckage... I don't have the words for how how immoral I find this.
