The situation will be reassessed after the 9 weeks are up.

The school system ordered more laptops and WI-FI units to help with the transition. It will cost MCPSS millions. CARES Act funding will pay for a large chunk of it.

frick.

I really want to go back to work.

No doubt this is a move that will influence Mackey’s new statewide plan.

My wife teaches in MCPSS. She loves her students and her job, and is anxious for a return to normality. But she is legitimately concerned about contracting the virus. Mobile hospitals are nearing ICU capacity.

Several of the bigger districts in Mississippi are starting on time and going traditional. But then again, MS is based.

What’s the risk?
Quantify it.

It would be like going to public school in New Orleans. I doubt most of the posters here would send there kids to school there.

Hell, just delay the damn school opening. They used to open school at the end of August anyway. Online education is a joke, I hate to break the news but it doesn't work for direct instructions in k-12, it's total bullshite and a waste of public money. But hey, why get in the way of politicians, school boards, and incompetents "superintendents"spending other peoples money.

On-line lessons April through school's end were a joke; understandable considering the circumstances.
Schools will have to come up with something better for kids not to lose more ground. Parents will have to have to monitor their kid's daily on-line activities. This will be tough on families where both parents have to work.
