This isnt a normal circumstance though. Can we stop pretending like its a run of the mill investigation. I can guarantee that releasing the identity would not have prevented any of the looting and other various felonies that have occurred in relation to this situation.

Things will become public knowledge for sure once the case is presented to a grand jury at the very latest.

One question, why is there even an investigation into whether his civil rights were violated ?

When white people get murdered it's just a murder investigation?

The right to life is a civil right. A pretty big one. Violating it under color of law is a federal offense punishable by death.

If the government can prove the officer continued firing after Brown had put his hands in the air and was proclaiming he was unarmed, the "officer" (really more of a shite stain) should be put down like the dog he is.

They let the Katrina pig who shot an unarmed mentally handicapped man in the back from a moving vehicle get off from the death penalty. Perhaps if they had made an example of him this would have not happened.

Better police work could have prevented some looting.

Its different when it involves an actor on behalf of the state, in this case, a police officer.

If all the information has been released quickly, it certainly would have slowed down the train.

The law states they must release the name within 72hrs, however the powers that be have ignored that law citing safety

No, it doesn't. At least not according to one of the most prominent lawyers in STL who was interviewed about it.

If the officer is white, it could have added fuel to the fire. Its a double edged sword.

There are extra deputies and state police staging in St Charles County right now. Supposedly there are plans/talk about bringing some of the "injustice" across the river.

If shite kicks up there this whole metro area is in for some rough times.

From the NYT and I've heard it stated numerous times during news reports

quote:

Chief Jackson said a provision of state law allowed police departments to withhold an officer’s name if there were concerns about personal safety. Normally, a department has 72 hours to disclose a name.

That would be a mistake of colossal proportions. But large groups of people aren't noted for their judicious restraint and planning capabilities.

Not watching the video now because i'm watching the protestors, but is this his reasoning?

The 72 hour law comes into play when police officers are hired, fired, disciplined or promoted.

If so, wouldn't administrative leave technically be disciplinary action

I dont think so. How can you discipline someone before an investigation? Said it was SOP for officer involved shootings. My guess is that we wont know until the investigation is over and the case is presented to a grand jury. Just my gut feeling.

These videos from two eyewitnesses accounts were recently posted on this news site. I don't know if the first video of Tiffany Mitchell's account had been previously released. The second one was from Saturday.
