Go Horns. Useless 'studies' majors are a major embarrassment

For weeks, the University of Texas’ provost, College of Liberal Arts dean and faculty have considered proposals to decide what majors should remain in the newly formed Social and Cultural Analysis Department.
But as students apply for admission to UT for fall 2027, the option to apply as an ethnic or gender studies student is already missing.
As of Wednesday evening, students cannot select Mexican American and Latina/o Studies; African and African Diaspora Studies; Women’s, Sexualities and Gender Studies; or American Studies as their first or second major of choice when they apply to the university.

Whenever I hear someone has a major in 'studies' of any kind, it takes a lot of willpower not to smirk and roll my eyes.

I'd say "UT is healing", but you all saw the snapshot from Saturday night's game and might feel differently.
However, I would much prefer to have a bunch of Indian doctors and engineers on campus than fat white liberal lesbian Gender Studies majors.

You can still get a minor degree at Texas Tech for Mexican Studies. The all you can catch and eat tortillas at football games was unfortunately discontinued.

But why resist? Make them get used to it. Prepare them for all the employers that will do it to them.
