Merriam-Webster dictionary changed its definition of “sexual preference” to include the word “offensive” as Democrats slammed Supreme Court nominee Judge Amy Coney Barrett for using the term during Tuesday’s Senate confirmation hearings.
Prior to Tuesday, the fifth definition listed for “preference” referred to orientation, as in sexual preference.

But as of Wednesday, the fifth definition for preference included the word “offensive” when used to describe sexual orientation.

"Our scheduled updates, which add new words and also add new definitions, usage guidance, and example sentences to existing dictionary entries, take place several times per year. From time to time, we release one or some of these scheduled changes early when a word or set of words is getting extra attention, and it would seem timely to share that update," Peter Sokolowski, Merriam-Webster's editor-at-large, explained in a statement to Fox News.
"In this case, we released the update for sexual preference when we noticed that the entries for preference and sexual preference were being consulted in connection with the SCOTUS hearings," Sokolowski continued. "A revision made in response to an entry's increased attention differs only in celerity—as always, all revisions reflect evidence of use."

The fact that fricking dictionaries are now changing the definitions of words to appease identity politics is honestly frightening. While it has become an somewhat of an overplayed cliche trope, when people compare what we're seeing to 1984, this is another prime example. The meaning of a word in the dictionary doesn't change just because some woke liberal is offended by reality. "Sexual preference" is not fricking offensive. It's pretty self-explanatory. It doesn't insinuate or imply choice. It simply refers to what gender one is attracted to sexually.

So an idiot tweets that it's offensive. A Hirono staffer sees the tweet and tells the queen of crazy. She repeats it to attack a court nominee. Lib editor sees the exchange and officially changes the definition of a word.
Despite all the Dem shenanigans, I think that is the most ridiculous happening this week.
ETA: I always thought sexual preference referred to the sex of your preferred partners. Like if someone asked me what my sexual preference was, I would say female. I'm still not convinced that that's not correct which would make the definition change even more stupid.

Well, apparently, it does. Because that’s literally what just happened.

The Merriam-Webster guy has severe TDS. He probably thinks by changing the definition on his stupid website that he'll be able to stop Amy from becoming a Supreme Court justice.
