Aren’t conservatives against subsidizing an industry when there is a cheaper better product?

Ahh. We found a lib, and he’s posting about something completely irrelevant.

The deal is the plants millions of dollars of construction, and infrastructure are already in place. Wind and solar will be a giant sink at first.

Absolutely. Let the market do it’s magic. (But that means no subsidies for wind or solar either)

I would rebump your thread about Trump’s wiretapping lie, but the admins deleted it.

Not to mention how many ugly turbines and solar panels would have to be installed to replace the capacity of the coal plants. Further not to mention that wind and solar are not reliable and constant so you’d have to have some way to store the power and supplement when it’s not sunny or windy.

The up-front cost is already part of their consideration when coming to the 74% replacement conclusion

The research demonstrates how it's increasingly more expensive to operate existing coal plants than build clean energy alternatives.
I have my doubts about an institution called Innovative Energy being completely unbiased, but at least this concern is already addressed in their methodology.

Only because of:

1. Rise of NG for power

2. Subsidies for, frankly, "unsuitable for the next 50 to 100 years for commercial purposes wind and solar"

3. Crippling regulations on coal imposed by an activist EPA literally sicced on them like one would a dog by Barack Hussein Obama.

So, you're right for the wrong reasons.

This list includes only those companies that received federal money from the Obama Administration’s Department of Energy and other agencies. The amount of money indicated does not reflect how much was actually received or spent but how much was offered. The amount also does not include other state, local, and federal tax credits and subsidies, which push the amount of money these companies have received from taxpayers even higher. The complete list of faltering or bankrupt green-energy companies:

Not sure why you’re laughing; I’m well aware that we’ve been transitioning away from renewable at the federal level, just as I’m sure you’re well aware that there are still many subsidies in place at the state levels.

But that’s really not the point. All I’m saying is that if we want to make an economic argument for replacement, we have to let markets do their work unimpeded. That means no regulatory burdens or subsidies to facilitate this transition, just as it means no more propping up of outdated and inefficient production.

I’m aware, and I support letting it die if it cannot supper itself. So let’s get government out of energy markets and let the strongest producers thrive.
