Ahh. We found a lib, and he’s posting about something completely irrelevant.

The deal is the plants millions of dollars of construction, and infrastructure are already in place. Wind and solar will be a giant sink at first.

Absolutely. Let the market do it’s magic. (But that means no subsidies for wind or solar either)

Lol trump got rid of all subsides for wind and solar and gave them to the coal and oil industry

I would rebump your thread about Trump’s wiretapping lie, but the admins deleted it.

Not to mention how many ugly turbines and solar panels would have to be installed to replace the capacity of the coal plants. Further not to mention that wind and solar are not reliable and constant so you’d have to have some way to store the power and supplement when it’s not sunny or windy.

The up-front cost is already part of their consideration when coming to the 74% replacement conclusion

The research demonstrates how it's increasingly more expensive to operate existing coal plants than build clean energy alternatives.

Coal is a dying industry.

Only because of:
1. Rise of NG for power
2. Subsidies for, frankly, "unsuitable for the next 50 to 100 years for commercial purposes wind and solar"
3. Crippling regulations on coal imposed by an activist EPA literally sicced on them like one would a dog by Barack Hussein Obama.
So, you're right for the wrong reasons.

Those jobs are not coming back unless you have a magic wand.

Not sure why you’re laughing; I’m well aware that we’ve been transitioning away from renewable at the federal level, just as I’m sure you’re well aware that there are still many subsidies in place at the state levels.
But that’s really not the point. All I’m saying is that if we want to make an economic argument for replacement, we have to let markets do their work unimpeded. That means no regulatory burdens or subsidies to facilitate this transition, just as it means no more propping up of outdated and inefficient production.

Research mining for the materials to make batteries for your unicorn power....

I’m aware, and I support letting it die if it cannot supper itself. So let’s get government out of energy markets and let the strongest producers thrive.

Been saying this. These trumpflakes don’t believe in math or science
