A lot of these are dumb to get rid of.
It's also not the government's place to dictate which degrees are eligible for student aid. That's the antithesis of free market economics.
Then again, the government never should have been in the student loan game to begin with.

I started in computer animation at the dawn of the industry's history. Over the decades as the field mushroomed, I saw plenty of colleges trying to get into education for the hot new field. Almost all of their offerings were clueless and useless, but they wanted the money and a piece of the action.

Instead they give them useless degrees and thousands of dollars of debt which the students have not intention of paying back because liberals say just hold out and don't pay, we'll forgive all the dent next time we get control.
I don't disagree that there are parties out there that do this, but I also degree with the widely painted picture you've painted.
I'm not a liberal. I have student loans and due to circumstances that I'm not going to share, I'm struggling to pay them back. Do I want to pay them back? Yes. Can I afford to? Nope.
I only got my student loans because my parents, who were cops, made too much money for me to get grants (they made 60k combined - think about that). And thus the loans fell on me and was left to pay.
I do agree that universities should have a skin in the game. I also think that student loans are predatory lending and should either be 0% or a flat rate.
I paid nonstop for years (10 to be exact) and paid above the minimum. Didn't make a dent in the amount of interest accrued and actually owe more than I took out.
Predatory lending...

This thread is dumb.
Possible includes everything.

What’s the default rate on existing loans for those degrees?
