What about when he clearly makes it a point to contradict the law of Moses?

Or when the OT contradicts itself?

It's all so confusing. Let's just believe whatever is most convenient.

Jesus chided the Pharisees for adding to Gods law. And for adding things that they had no intention of following themselves.

John 3:16

+

Phillipians 2:10-11

EVERYONE goes to heaven

You can interpet it any way you want. Except for "believe in Jesus or go to hell." That's not in there anywhere. That's just a nice proselytizing tactic.

"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by Me"? How do you interpret that?

Also you leave off John 3:14 and 3:15

"14"As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; 15so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life."

You should think hard about this...bet you can come up with the answer all on your own.

If you want to talk to God, gotta go through Jesus.
quote:

14"As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; 15so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life."
If you believe in Jesus's resurrection, you'll live forever.

Still don't see anything about Hell for not believing

Given that millions of Christians interpret it as universalism, I think it's pretty clear how unclear it is.

More or less, they argue that Jesus' death ultimately saves everyone whether they know it or not. In that way, everyone's salvation goes through him.

So you believe in some kind of purgatory? Not a dichotomous heaven or hell?

This seems like a much more logical interpretation

I have no clue.

Just going on what the Man said.

The Man said believe on him and you will be saved. Saved from what? Paul said the wages of sin are death but the gift of God is salvation. Salvation from what? Death to what?

Saddam was by and large pretty secular for someone in the Mideast. He hated the religious nutjobs like Isis and practically slaughtered them every time they popped up.

The idea that we could go into the most violent and unstable region on Earth and spread, peace, love, and a working democracy was fantasy and practically an evil con-job.

Iraq needs a strong and tyrannical dictator right now.

I think if there is something after death (and I doubt it) it is impossible for us to know this side of things. All of the afterlife outcomes proposed thus far by religions are dictated largely by when and where you were born and what circumstances life threw at you. There is no objective, equal test that we all take in life.

If Christianity is true, then every native American prior to the 16th century is fricked. If Islam is true, everyone prior to 750 AD is fricked. If Buddhism is true, those who take life too seriously are fricked. If Hinduism is true, those who like hamburgers are fricked.

That's all swell and good but useless to this discussion. I'm challenging the assertion that the Bible doesn't say believe or you go to hell. The fact some unitarian folks don't think it does is not a valid argument as there are people who don't think vaccines work.

Hmmm... Interesting generalization......

You don't know this. The bible says in Romans that creation itself bares witness that there is a God. We don't know how the souls
of those who lived before the crucifixion will be judged.

I just find it interesting that, if someone started a threat about kurds being killed in Iraq, it would get about three replies and maybe 15-20 clicks.

Ironic post in this thread, considering half the posts are you shitting out of your mouth.

Perhaps it's the shared values/morals a people preach/live, and not what part of the world you where born in?

It's crazy to think 'God' would be able to do that, no?
