I’m in no way defending anything the feds do, but the usps prefunds its pension, and charges .63 (even w upcoming increase) for a letter.
I don’t think they care about profitability. Or deny/care that they don’t care.
To be profitable they’d need to ditch everything except parcels and digitally secure certified email.

This is where I'm at. I left a medication at a friend's house last week and made the idiotic decision to have her mail it to me. I told her to overnight it but she sent it priority express. It was scanned twice that day at the local PO and then at whatever facility they have. That was the 23rd and it hasn't moved since. Looking at my options apparently I can't even file a missing mail claim because it's medication, they won't look for it or return it. Is there really nothing I can do if one of their esteemed workers felt like ripping open a box labeled medication to see if it was anything good?
