My friend's daughter works for a small family medicine practice. She said that they've had patients come in with symptoms and test positive for COVID and literally wail when the doctor tells them. They react like they just got a terminal cancer diagnosis. It's nothing but the media's constant fear porn over the last 2 years. They honestly think it's a death sentence.

Yup, had to calm down a youngster from the Big Brother program after he tested positive.

I understood fear early on.
I was unique in understanding real risk.
However, it's been nearly 2 years.
We all know dozens who've had and recovered. Even without knowledge of real infection fatality rate, it's clearly not anything near a death sentence.
These people who "think" it is are lost.
They'll never be normal again.

Right after 9/11, I had to conduct some executive training in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. During breaks, we obviously discussed 9/11 and employees at all 3 locations asked if I was afraid another attack would happen. All were shocked when I answered that I was terrified that another attack would happen and I thought it likely would. They all asked how I could live in constant fear of something. I think about those people now and wonder if they live in constant fear of Covid.
