Below is a link to Frank Zappa's interview with Dick Cavett in 1980's. In it, he discusses freedom of speech and his issues with the Anti-Defamation League. His articulation in favor of defending offensive is one of the most powerful on record.
And while Zappa's most frequent detractors then were right-wing Christians, today his own progressive allies would be the first to try and censor him, shame him and cancel him. SJW's today make the moral majority of the 1980's look like card-carrying libertarians.

Frank supported the constitution and would be abhorred by the SJWs of today. Most of his lyrical content is stuff that is completely off limits in their limited worldview.

The PMRC, which Zappa testified in front of Congress against in the 1980s, was led by Tipper Gore, not Jerry Falwell.

During the time that this interview aired, Zappa had also been criticized for having subliminal messages in his recordings.
Back in the late 70's and early 80's, there was a political and religious movement to ban recordings with hidden, subliminal message which could be revealed by playing music, etc. backwards. It was referred to as "backward masking".
It was absolutely insane.
