Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin on Wendesday signaled he would not seek the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee, acknowledging in a statement he is falling short of a needed majority.
But at the same time, the Long Island congressman and 2022 nominee for New York governor urged party officials to select a new leader after a disappointing midterm result for Republicans in Congress.
“I won’t be running for RNC Chair at this time with [current chair Ronna] McDaniel’s reelection pre-baked by design, but that doesn’t mean she should even be running again," Zeldin said.
Zeldin's decision to back off from a bid came hours after Democrats held a U.S. Senate seat in Georgia, growing the party's majority in the chamber by one seat. Republicans are expected to have a narrow majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, but far smaller than was initially projected.

For what it's worth, the RNC is a private corporation and they can elect whatever chairman they want. What is disingenuous and kind of funny is the "democratic" façade they put forth to elect the chairman.

They have no shame. With Ronna in there she won't give a flip about putting money towards early voting harvesting ballots in the swing States.

Ron nor anyone will have a chance in PA.AZ, CO, the rustbelt. With Ron's TTP vote Ohio may say wtf.
They allowed Youngkin in by stopping the democrats from harvesting ballots until they win & exposed the FBI proud boy racist crap.
The $64,000 dollar question is will they make DeSantis a fall guy Romney because of deals they made with their left wing?
I don't think DeSantis runs. I think Youngkin will be their last minute hero they will allow to win (via Ronna). They will keep DeSantis for VP to Youngkin or keep him in warm up for later.

Exactly. You should see the headlines I saw last week about Ron. Mika and Gumby had a royal hissy, because Ron was even considered for Time Person of the Year.
Ron's Florida bill protecting children & Parents from being forced transexual, 2Spirit, from any kid Identifying as a cat & wanting a litter box at school-wokeness. Is a fantastic, common-sense bill.
And they call it, 'say no to gay.' They are filthy liars. They will eat Ron up in two days after Don is jailed-- and the GOP won't GAF.
