They were also charged for having the "fixins" for other molotovs, and instructing others on how to make and use them.

You guys know the history of these two? The chic is an immigrant from Pakistan who went to Fordham and then law school, no doubt probably on a scholly being a foreigner, female and of color.

The fella was from a low income area and received a scholly to St. Andrews one of the top prep schools on the east coast, the scholly is for impoverished kids, of color, that show promise. Went on to scholly and Princeton and NYlaw.

And these two, who have gained SOOOOOOOO much from the system ONLY for being minorities, are out protesting blm.

What a country we have created.

Do you want to see what armed insurrection looks like?

This is what it looks like.

The only real plea bargaining in the federal system is charge bargaining. Pleaing to some lesser charge with a lesser max because the federal sentencing guidelines kinda fricked plea bargaining. You can get a downward departure from the guidelines but that normally reserved for cooperating witnesses. I can’t envision what these two could bring to the table to get the govt to agree to a 5K downward departure.

When you're throwing fricking molotov cocktails at police cars, that is RIOTING.

Not "protesting"

You disingenuous corrupt fricks.

If they did it at night, that's no big deal, right?

It's only actions in the daytime that are concerning now.

yeah it may be an offer to 10-20 years in jail for all we know

But your gut feeling is that it will be a ridiculously mild sentence, right? Like 5 years probation, 6 months supervised and time served.

And some folks who were in D.C. on 1/6, were not armed and did nothing more than jostle people and yell will do some actual time.

The newspapers always do that to federal penalty ranges. It’s just for the eye popping effect. To be fair, lots of AUSA’s like to spout those penalty ranges for effect at the arraignment, too.

I’m sure the statutory penalty is something like “minimum of 5 years up to life in prison”.

Then, the sentencing guidelines take over.

Also, “plea deals” in federal court are the norm. It could mean a lot of things, but also includes simply that they dropped the more serious charges and will give the defendants acceptance of responsibility point reductions on the guidelines.
