And... how expensive are the Russian air defense things that took them down?
That's important, isn't it? How much Russia is wasting air defense on cheap missilles, because if they exhaust them then these cheap flamingos can cause some damage, cheaply.
I seem to have read a few thousand times how that was important when it was the Shahed-type drones.
The economics of it are extremely important. The cost disparity largely depends on which layer of air defense shoots down the missile. Russia's air defense layers range from $50k per to $4m. Manufacturing speed disparities also must be taken into account, especially since we don't have a firm idea on how much money each side has and can afford to lose. I would imagine Ukraine would generally have an advantage on the financial side, but when Russia is playing with monopoly money and Ukriane is reliant on the appetite of the West in terms of support who knows for sure long term.

U.S. Treasury Secretary rules out sanctions relief to Russian minister at G20 — Reuters
September 1, 2026, 05:27 AM
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov that Washington will not grant economic relief until the war against Ukraine ends, Reuters wrote on Sept. 1.
The direct, face-to-face meeting between the ministers unfolded amid deep discontent among European officials over Russia’s attendance at the G20 format following the launch of its Ukraine full-scale invasion.
U.S. official earlier told Reuters that the primary focus of the discussion between Bessent and Siluanov was U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine, whereas the Russian Finance Ministry claimed the talks centered on financial cooperation within the G20.
According to a source familiar with the exchange, when Siluanov attempted to steer the discussion toward matters of mutual interest, Bessent cut him off, declaring that no agreements were "possible before the end of the war."
Reuters noted that the U.S. imposed sweeping sanctions against major Russian oil corporations in October 2025. Following later energy supply disruptions triggered by U.S.-Israeli military strikes against Iran and tightened traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, Bessent permitted the sale of Russian crude stranded on tankers. The U.S. maintained the waiver was intended to stabilize global energy supplies, though it generated revenue for the aggressor state.
