LA School Board Election - District 8

The options for school board in District 8 in the upcoming election are:
(1) Connie Bernard (R)
(2) Joseph Britt (I)
(3) "Katie" Kennison (D)
Connie Bernard has indicated she will not seek re-election: Bernard will not seek re-election
But because of her timing, her name will still be listed on the ballot.
Question 1: What happens if Connie Bernard wins anyway?
Question 2: Does anyone know anything about Joseph Britt?
I received a flyer from him saying that he wants to "empower parents and teachers." These days, it seems like you can empower one or the other, but not both.
Given how little I can find out about him, I'm inclined to vote for Bernard anyway in the hopes that there will be a "re-do" or special election of some sort to replace her, but does anyone know what the rules/laws are on that?

Whatever you do, don't vote for the Democrat.
Democrats are also worthless trash in local races especially school boards.

there is a really nice guy running as a democrat for our state rep. he has some good ideas for local stuff.... buuuuuutttt he also adds typical Democratic abortion and lgbt planks on his platforms.
sorry bud. i can't get on board with that stuff if you're going to toe the party line. i can vote for a pro-life democrat if it's reasonable, but you can GFY
with LGBT enablement.

She can't as they will disregard votes for her.
Hopefully, you won't be able to choose hear as an option on the machine, even though her name will be printed. Not sure of that though.

What do you base that on? (I’m not disagreeing with you, I’d just like to know where that statement comes from.)

Actually I am wrong.
Connie didn't withdraw her name, she just stopped campaigning. So she can win.

I don't know, but apparently the LA GOP endorsed her. Based off of that, I've pretty much gone against the grain on anyone that the GOP has endorsed and will be voting for other Republicans.
ETA: in local elections.
