We also pretended that Nelson and Winnie Mandela weren't murderous pieces of dog zhit.....they were, yet somehow we celebrate them.

I know right. You listen to a “Leftist” you would think they were saints when in reality they were no better than gang leaders. Hell you would think that the entire country was owned by the Zulu’s and the Boers just took their land (which didn’t happen).

I read this on the recommendation of another poster here. It's a great book and really frames what's going on down there. This book is about Rhodesia/Zimbabwe, but parallels South African events.

Had she chosen this area, that's part of the "ambience" and requirements for living here.

Just recently on Prentiss Ave. a Reverend's wife was carjacked and then run over by "youths."

We do share at least some cultural parallels with the Afrikaners. By necessity, living here sharpens acuity, awareness, and reflexes.

About what is needed if straying too close and lingering near a waterhole on the Serengeti.

Winnie Mandela openly proclaimed her support for using the "necklace" on blacks who conspire with whites.

The "necklace" is when you put an old tire around someone's neck, fill it with gasoline and light it on fire. It's a common execution tactic in SA.

Nelson Mandela was originally jailed for 27 years for being a terrorist. His group set like 50+ bombs around the country in one day.

Sure, white South Africa did a lot of bad, indefensible things. So has the United States. So has a lot of countries. But we have to put those things behind us and move on. Obviously Mandela was forgiven for his transgressions. He was elected fricking president.

To use Apartheid as any kind of justification for what is going on now is fricking psychotic.
