this has got to be the stupidest situation ever
1. so the story was allegedly "going around school" but she didn't tell her parents or the police? the person who said this has backtracked her claim. only 3 people could have floated the story; ford, bk, judge.
2. ford "represses" the memory and can't remember any details but, bk HAS TO GO DOWN
3. bk passes through numerous important appointments, including the 2nd highest judicial court. not a peep out of ford and her "traumatic experience"
4. conflicting accounts of whether she wanted to stay anonymous or not. shopping story to wapo suggests no
5. she claims she is getting death threats
6. idiots keep blaming trump for no fbi investigation despite the fact that they have already said they don't do that and bk has passed 6 investigations already
7. bk is ready to go and says he'll be there first thing mon morn with bells on to tell his side of the story
8. ford hasn't responded except to say that IF she does grace the senate with her presence, there are all sorts of stupid, unprecedented political conditions that have to be met for her to testify
the only reason this is happening now is because it's politically expedient. libs don't want a potential prolifer on the court. otherwise, ford would have raised this issue long ago. she didn't because he was mostly in the background. now, it's high profile which of course makes her and her story look incredibly suspect and politically convenient. add on to that the "death threats" and the chaotic way the story unfolded which all make it look worse.
if it did happen, then that's bad. but if bk were going to be punished for it, that should have happened 20, 30 years ago.
even if it did happen, what does that have to do with this confirmation? it was 35 years ago when he was a teenager. he has apparently not repeated the behavior and dozens of women have testified to his integrity as an adult. we're basically asking the man to have lived a perfect life. it's an impossible standard that no one in govt right now is being held to.
