Juneteenth as a National Holiday

Steve Hilton on Fox said Trump should take the iniative and as a leader of the Party that fought a war for freedom and an end to slavery, and declare Juneteen a national day of celebration. He makes an excellent point, and I strongly agree.

I think it should be a national Holiday. If you think about it, it has a lot more meaning than some of our national holidays in place. Trump leading the way would hilarious.

It would certainly separate the genuine and righteously indignant individuals from the real racists and race baiters, on both sides of the political spectrum.

If Trump made a positive classy Rose garden speech announcing his designation of the day as a celebration of the successful war his party fought to end the Democrats system of forced slavery they would go apoplectic. If Trump did it, the effect would be the opposite of divisive. Trump would be claiming the rightful title as the leader of a Party whose very existence is based on and has fought for Union. Additionally it highlights the sordid origins of his detractors party.
