John Roberts is a cuck

I just think he is preoccupied with the perception of his time as chief justice and this colors his thinking on the specifics of any decision. He wants his court to be remembered as balanced, or independent, politically. IMO, it won't age well in history and instead he will be remembered as narcissistic and a weak-minded chief justice
