I would MUCH rather the state have a trust that they can use earnings from to pay for reoccurring expenses rather than have the tax payers foot the bill every year.

Here is an example of just one of the multitude of funds the state keeps money in that most of us have never heard of.
I know it's a small balance compared to BREC's fund balance of over $35 million and this small fund is designed to help the blind find and maintain employment, but it's just a single example of how the state takes our money and doles it out almost without our knowledge that it's happening.

Central to the fight is a state-managed trust fund that takes money from vending operations in courthouses and other state or federal properties and uses it to help the legally blind run snack stands, cafeterias and vending machines.
In 2009, the trust fund stood at $1.6 million. Now the balance is closer to $700,000.

It could be if onerous.

Good, those who get Medicaid have done nothing to deserve it.
Because the average person thinks it's 'welfare queens'(wink wink) & their children who get Medicaid, but 70-75% of Medicaid are those thrown into nursing homes.
I know it's easy to villainize the poor as usual ,but Medicaid is not restricted to the poor. Many middle class / working class elderly people are the ones getting much of the Medicaid dollars via shuttling Granny, Auntie, Uncle,etc.. Into nursing homes.

... after Granny, Auntie and Uncle have exhausted all of their assets.
But if you're talking about those with money who allow that to happen, and instead of sucking it up and paying for their family member's nursing-home costs, "shuffle" them off onto the government dole, then you are correct.

2. Education
Pick one or demand state constitutional changes
Why doesn't anybody understand this?
Draining Medicaid is a horrible decision to be left with but there isn't much of an alternative. It's a shame we have to balance the budget off the backs of the poor.

You aren't balancing it off the backs of the poor cause the poor aren't the ones paying the taxes.
