graphic in that article has 4 schools that have at least 94% voucher use

Do you see the difference in that statement and the one where you said nearly 100% would close?

Thats not true. Consolidation would happen maybe...or downsizong, etc.

New orleans is a shithole and many private schools now lie outside of new Orleans city limits. Thats why the ones IN New Orleans are the ines in trouble. Most everywhere else, private schools thrive, and one main reason is because they are NOT controlled by the government.

Best I can tell, the reputable private schools in new orleans didn't rely on vouchers. It's mostly lower performing schools or newly formed schools that are basically just taking "marketshare" away from the public (mostly charter) schools.

So yeah, now the state is going to regulate them, but that was their choice and they ultimately just took kids that would have gone to state-regulated schools anyway.

In my opinion, based upon past closing practices of the archdiocese, and based upon the enrollment of said schools, every school that has at least 30% on vouchers would be in danger of closing if not for the vouchers. Almost 100 percent of voucher schools fit that category.

My statement remains.

Consolidation = closing a school. You can't really downsize a school in this situation.

The archdiocese has in recent years closed schools outside city limits due to low enrollment. Further, many of the schools, at least on the southshore and westbank, have seen enrollment drops over the years. Not to the point of closing, but drops nonetheless.

Interestingly enough, it's the city high schools like Jesuit, Brother Martin, Dominican, and Mount Carmel, that are holding steady with enrollment, while schools like Rummel, Chapelle, and Shaw are dropping.

Where do you live, GeeOH? Because it seems like you are 100 percent incorrect here.

The voucher program is useful in concept but this state already spends enough on handouts glad to see some initiative to fix the loop holes.

Good to see that the govt will force them back to their rightful shitty govt run schools...
