I am not a Trump supporter and did not vote for him and will not vote for him BUT I don't see his handling of COVID initially as any kind of issue...he did alleviate the pressure governors were under to not shut down by spending billions to ensure salaries were maintained....the wisdom behind that is debatable but it was done and there ain't no looking back.

The problem with COVID is we have ignored the threat of a pandemic for ever, really. It isn't something that is sexy or can be turned into a profit so it is ignored. That ain't Trump's fault that is on all of us because we have the data to know that it was going to happen sooner than later and we were pass due...we have dodged a bullet many times. Trump was along for the ride just like me and you.

Trump has done a lot of stupid shite, the vast majority of which consists of simply saying shite to get a rise out of the left....99.9% of it is meaningless at the end of the day...but I don't know what actions he could have taken to correct 100 years of willful ignorance. He may have helped matters somewhat by not dismissing the virus initially but no one listens to anything he says anyway...you either automatically agree or automatically dismiss every word out of his mouth because that is his main appeal...but that means that everything that comes out of his mouth is meaningless as everyone already automatically agrees or disagrees with everything Trump...he isn't losing support and he ain't gaining any...his words are totally ineffective at this point so his early dismissal of the virus, other than providing fodder for supporters and detractors alike, was as meaningless as anything else that comes out of him. His actions is where he is effective...and there is no discounting his ability to get his agenda in place....I don't know if anyone has ever been more effective...but I don't know what actions he could have taken that weren't taken that would have made a difference with COVID.

International manufacturing has bottomed out and is starting to recover based off index reports.

The dollar has lost some value, but based off high values before Covid occurred. International markets are flocking to the reserve for US deposits and lower interest rates are helping currency hedges possible.

Inflation hasn’t occurred as interest rates will be lower for longer again based off what the fed has said. Inflation occurs when there is too much money chasing too few goods. Aggregate supply is there with goods, for now.

Foreclosures and real estate, commercial and residential, is going to be a cluster frick. I’m currently selling and moving and will most likely rent until things bottom out. If housing crashes again, I might be back in Cali looking to scoop up some real estate. I know people who made 400k-600k scooping up 2-3 houses from banks and selling them 5 years later.

Beef prices are down for me.

I'm trying to get over the anger at how badly the universe has fricked my economic prospects over due to timing of the 08 crash and now this.

I'll be honest, I have my own moments of anger, though I know they are misplaced. I was sold a future that didn't exist.

-Work hard
-Make good grades
-Go to college
-Learn new skills

I was told for two decades that if I did the above, that life was right there for the taking. That I would be financially secure, that I could grow up to be anything, that the rest was up to me.

What a complete and total lie.

No one told me to be realistic. No one told me what jobs were in demand in my area, no one told me that I might have to move hundreds maybe thousands of miles away to find work, no one told me that only candidates from schools x, y, and z would be competitive in some industries. No one told me that networking was how people landed 75% of all jobs and to focus far more on meeting people than "good grades".

It's not that I didn't try, it's that I spent most of my life trying really, really hard at exactly the wrong things, and now I'm 10 years behind where I needed to be, and now that I have a wife and kids, it's harder still to work on the things that can actually move me somewhere.

I feel like I was already behind. Then add in globalization, Financial Crisis, Boomer Retirement crisis, Covid, etc.

I may get lucky before things get really bad and can take advantage of outlier deals that are certain to come around.

An 08 style crash would be great for me right now. Buying opportunities galore followed by a quick up swing. I’m afraid that this recovery will take much longer though.
