Afghanistan was so there would never be another 911.
Iraq we thought wrongly they had WMDs. That was a mistake partially due to Saddam pretending he had them still (mostly chem, some bio some nuke efforts pre Gulf I).
In Iran's case they most definitely were trying to get nukes, anyone who pretends they weren't is not trustworthy in intent or judgement.
