The star and crescent is a pre-Islam and pre-Christian symbol. It was used in pre-Christian Byzantium, and then used at various times by the Christian Byzantine Empire on coinage and on shields and flags. I’m at the beach right now, so I can’t post authoritative sources at the moment, but I will do so later since you’re apparently a lazy arse and think I’m trying to pull some sort of fast one (really odd by the way, but you’re a weirdo).
