Iraq begins its final offensive against ISIS

After President Obama said ISIS was the new reality, Trump has put them on the ropes in less than 11 months. And he's done that by removing a lot of the pesky ROEs that were limiting our commanders in the field, while also giving them free reign to make tactical and strategic decisions with limited inputs from Washington.
And the media will never give him credit for the turnaround.

In order to win a war, you must first WANT to win the war.

This time next year, ISIS will hold no territory anymore.
They'll probably still be underground but there claims to land and sovereignty will be kaput.

Its a huge victory for the Iranians. With Syria and Iraq in their orbit, they are now the 2nd strongest power in the Middle East, behind Israel. And with Iranian general Soleimani leading the pack, they have violently crushed any hopes of an independent Kurdistan. US foreign policy in the ME continues to be as dysfunctional as ever. What have we won? Why are we sending more troops to the region? Exactly, what have American soldiers really died for?

What would you have us do? Continue funding the Wahhabist Al Qaeda terrorists?

He also stopped arming them.

Obama's next plan of attack was to air drop ISIS thousands of 6 year old pocket pussies.

Assuming that Iran is our greatest ME enemy, that would make more sense. Of course, "breaking Iraq" which began with the Bushes, set the stage for a no-win outcome for the US. In my opinion, all American deaths in this century in the Middle East have been in vain. Don't give me that "freedom" bullshite.

We gonna modernize Saudi Arabia. Women driving. Aramco on the New York exchange. Crown Prince preaching moderate Islam, denouncing extremism. And we will continue selling weapons to his government to balance Iran.
Sounds right?

Also, Hillary and Obama will be under consideration for charges of treason.

That's going to take a long time.

The Wahhabis and Saudis have a long history. Ibn Saud and Al-Wahhab were allies. A move toward a more moderate school will take time, and given that there are more Wahhabis in the Gulf than anywhere else, I'm utterly skeptical of the possibility of success.
Moving away from Sunni Islamism means, in part, conceding defeat to Shias, and that will be very difficult to swallow.

Crusades last a long time?

It's going to take, at a minimum, a decade, and that's not even discussing how MBS is going to deal with the cleric class, with whom the Saudi royals always have limited political capital.
Also, there is no indication that suddenly Sunni Islamism is going to go away. There has been a consistent campaign since 1979 to globalize the Hanbali school, and given that the other schools do not have globalizing power, as of yet, I'll remain skeptical that the KSA can be "modernized" at all.

So why would the US be a party to a settlement that has allowed hundreds of foreign ISIS fighters and their weapons to flee unharmed? Did we develop a soft spot for them. Convoy of 6 to 7 KM allowed to escape.

When US-backed Syrian fighters took full control of the city of Raqqa, it ended three years of rule there by so-called Islamic State. But now the BBC has uncovered details of a secret deal that let several hundred IS fighters escape. IS made Raqqa in northern Syria its headquarters in early 2014. Last month Raqqa fell, but this programme has learnt that in exchange for a deal to save lives and bring peace to the city, a convoy carrying several hundred IS fighters, their families and weapons and ammunition -- were able to leave the city freely. The question now is, where are they now? Our Middle East Correspondent, Quentin Sommerville, has this exclusive report.
