Iran will not retaliate; it will play victim

Very thought-provoking piece I stumbled upon today (link below). The gist of it is that Iran has no good options except to appeal to the American and European left to feel sorry for it and hope these feelings of “injustice” will generate momentum for the Democratic contender in 2020. If that can be achieved, they’ll likely get another dove who will give them access to billions and lift sanctions in exchange for rolling back their infant nuclear program.
What’s not addressed is whether Trump’s one-two hit of economic sanctions followed by heavy-handed military reaction as needed will bring Iran back to the negotiating table. The author instead seems to suggest a second Trump term would merely cause Iran to become second-rate agitators in the M.E. instead of swallowing their pride and swapping their nuclear program for sanctions being lifted. If Trump could somehow achieve that, he’d get a non-dangerously nuclear Iran WITHOUT paying them billions in the process, an ideal outcome as compared to Obama’s appeasement.

Hmmmph...I've considered the Mullahs pretty smart in their strategy...but if they think that Americans are going to fire Trump, because they feel sorry for Iran...well...so much for smart. The electorate is pretty much settled. And with the coming Barr/Durham stuff...Trump momentum will build.
They'd best drop the whole Islamist thing, at least the 'sword'/martyrdom part...and just prosper and compete above board.

Not all Americans. Just leftists and impressionable centrists.

Just be wary - Nikolai Volkov will distract the ref while the Iron Shiek loads his boot.

If Iran pushes to war, I just don't want us to do the "nation building" thing in the rubble and ruins.

Question to posters: what, in your opinion, is the best outcome in all this for Trump?

The Iranians have said they will seek revenge. And they’ve prepared the public for that eventuality, and the potential cost.
They will hit back.

The Iranians are a subtle people. IMO they will bide their time whilst working out the "bestest" way to inflict some injury on the US and/or Israel. When the retaliation comes it will be imaginative and painful.

I wouldn’t mine completely decimating their country in all facets and take their financial assets, effectively bringing that country to an end.

Mullahs hold their fire, sanctions do their job of further decimating the Iranian economy...and the youth over there realizes that Trump has their back like Obama didn't...and they overthrow the Islamist Regime and erect a statue of Trump. Dems do what they do best...whine, bitch, call names, sell out America for virtue-signaling... and lose power.
