I know that. Geez. Although, I will admit to thinking that since she was born in and lived in Iran, that made her an Iranian citizen. Sort of a dual citizenship sort of thing.

Honestly, it didn't seem like you knew.

Iran doesn't have unrestricted jus soli. Their jus soli citizenship is conditional, based on if one of the parents were born or had citizenship in Iran at the time of birth. It was clear in the case of Valerie Jarrett that this wasn't the case.

I did not think you knew either but that is based on most people here thinking she was born in Iran to Iranian parents, was raised Muslim etc.

Yes, because most of us ignorant rednecks totally thought Valerie is an Iranian name.

Just shoot her

That's not very inclusive.

Stone her, instead. That's how her new benefactors would do it.

Wow, what a concept - thank goodness we don't go in for that sort of xenophobic foolishness in the US, amirite?

That said, from an NPR piece on the case:
quote:

That summer, a dual U.S.-Iranian citizen who is identified as "Individual A" in the indictment hired Witt to be her assistant on an anti-American propaganda film. Prosecutors say that Individual A worked as a spotter and assessor for Iranian intelligence.
Explain to me why, when the naturalization ceremony specifically requires new US citizens to, and I quote, "absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which (they) have heretofore been a subject or citizen", that such a thing as dual citizenship exists in this country?

Most countries in the Western Hemisphere have unrestricted jus soli. Canada, the US, and Mexico included.

I completely agree. It's alarming how many members of congress have dual citizenship with a certain country that you can't really talk about. I'd be in favor of dual-citizenship being illegal if you want to run for Congress, as I see no upside to it.

People laughed at Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann when she talked about the Muslim Brotherhood infiltrating the Obama Administration, especially at DHS, but Michelle was right.

Shame on you, Chris Wallace, for being a total jerk and asking Bachmann "Are you crazy?" during an interview. You should've been investigating her claims, you Establishment bitch.

Why in the frick would anyone with any common sense at all give someone who looks like this top secret clearance?
Why would anyone with any common sense at all allow someone that clearly is a threat any access to military secrets.
The same stupid motherfrickers who would elect that rag headed young muzzle to Congress I guess.
Democrats are so fricking stupid. I hate them more every day.

She was an officer in the USAF, prior E. Any dual citizens must give up the other citizenship in order to commission. So even if she held dual citizenship before taking the oath there’s no way she held Iranian citizenship - legally - as a commissioned military officer,
